Gary Rowett: 'We have to get back to winning ways'

Birmingham boss Gary Rowett insists that his side have to get back to winning ways after Brighton stretched their winless run in the Championship to seven matches.

Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett has urged his side to get back to winning ways in the Championship following their 4-3 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Blues had the chance to take a 2-1 lead into half time, but Paul Caddis saw his penalty kick saved by David Stockdale.

In the second half, the Seagulls raced into a 3-1 advantage thanks to strikes from Inigo Calderon and Joao Teixeira.

Wes Thomas brought the visitors back into the game, but another strike from Calderon condemned City to defeat despite a late goal from Lee Novak as Rowett's men stretched their winless run in the Championship to seven matches.

He told Sky Sports News: "As a team we were a bit open generally, Teixeira cut in from the left far too easily and we needed a bit more collective desire to stop them.

"This team has worked so hard to go from second bottom and maybe now is the time to make one or two changes. We've lost to Blackpool, Millwall and Brighton and maybe Brighton had that bit more desire which hurts to say.

"It's small moments in games that don't fall your way, but we did have two or three very good chances. We did win eight of our opening 11 games and we need to get back to that form quickly."

Birmingham are 15th in the Championship table, eight points clear of the relegation zone.
