How Bayern Munich could line up against Wolfsburg

How Bayern could line up against Wolfsburg

Bayern Munich will look to bounce back from successive Bundesliga defeats when they travel to Wolfsburg on Saturday afternoon.

Bayern have not actually won a top-flight match since overcoming Schalke 04 on September 22. Indeed, they drew with Augsburg on September 25 before losing to Hertha BSC and Borussia Monchengladbach in their last two.

There is huge pressure on Niko Kovac's team to pick up all three points this weekend, especially with the champions languishing down in sixth position in the table.

That said, Bayern are only four points off league leaders Borussia Dortmund, and will fancy their chances of returning to winning ways against ninth-placed Wolfsburg.

Here, Sports Mole takes a look at how Bayern could line up this weekend.

Out: Corentin Tolisso (knee), Kingsley Coman (ankle) Doubtful: David Alaba (hamstring), Rafinha (ankle), Leon Goretzka (thigh), Jerome Boateng (muscular)

Bayern were recently boosted by the news that both David Alaba and Rafinha have returned to first-team training following hamstring and ankle problems respectively. Alaba is expected to return to the XI at left-back, but Joshua Kimmich will keep out Rafinha on the opposite side.

Head coach Kovac has plenty of decisions to make further forward, meanwhile, following the 3-0 defeat to Gladbach before the international break.

Franck Ribery and Serge Gnabry will both be pushing for spots in the XI, but Arjen Robben and Thomas Muller should keep their supporting roles for lone forward Robert Lewandowski.

Lewandowski has eight goals in 10 appearances for Bayern this season despite his team's recent struggles, and there will be a lot of pressure on the Poland international to continue finding the back of the net.

Renato Sanches is back in the fold at Bayern following an unhappy loan spell at Swansea City, and the Portugal international could be handed a starting role if Leon Goretzka fails to recover from a slight thigh problem.
