Ivan Franjic ruled out of World Cup

Australia defender Ivan Franjic is poised to miss his nation's remaining World Cup games after sustaining a hamstring injury.

Ivan Franjic will play no further part in Australia's World Cup campaign after sustaining a hamstring injury in the 3-1 defeat to Chile on Friday night.

The 26-year-old lasted a little over 45 minutes before being replaced, with Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou confirming that the defender's scans had shown a "fairly significant tear".

Prior to being substituted Franjic had played a prominent role in helping Australia get back into the contest, crossing for Tim Cahill who halved the deficit to just one goal.

The Aussies' remaining Group B games come against the Netherlands and Spain respectively.
