Arsenal should consider sacrificing either Leandro Trossard or Gabriel Martinelli to bring in Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze this summer, Gunners legend Ray Parlour has exclusively told Sports Mole.
The England international is thought to be Arsenal's prime target for the remainder of the summer window, one in which the club have already brought in six new faces in Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Norgaard, Martin Zubimendi and Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Eze is understood to be extremely keen to join Mikel Arteta's side, although Palace are holding out for the full value of his £67.5m release clause and want at least £35m of that to be paid up front, terms Arsenal have not yet agreed to.
The Gunners could raise funds for a move by offloading one of Trossard or Martinelli, and Arsenal invincible Parlour believes that it would be a worthwhile move to let one of the duo depart.
Asked whether Trossard or Martinelli would be an acceptable sacrifice for Eze, Parlour replied: "Yes, I think so. Eze is a very impressive player; hugely talented and creative, he can score goals too.
"He has excelled at Palace, is now in the England set-up and he looks like an Arsenal player. He is exciting to watch, got a good head on his shoulders and would excite the crowd with the way he glides with the ball. I think he would be a great addition to the squad for sure.”
What is the latest with Trossard, Martinelli's Arsenal futures?
While Trossard and Martinelli have been solid over the past couple of seasons, neither has been truly spectacular, and both of their futures are major talking points heading into the new campaign.
Thirty-year-old Trossard is seen as the likelier to depart given his age and the fact that his contract expires at the end of the 2025-26 season, and talk of an extension has gone quiet in recent weeks.
However, the Belgium international is reportedly committed to the North London club and is prepared to stay for the upcoming campaign, although that could precede a free transfer at the end of the season if no new deal is agreed.
Bayern Munich were formerly said to have been interested in Trossard, but the German champions have since signed Luis Diaz from Liverpool, while talk of a preliminary agreement with Fenerbahce is understood to be wide of the mark.
Meanwhile, Martinelli can walk away from the Emirates for nothing in the summer of 2027, although Arsenal can trigger a 12-month extension option in his contract and would be expected to do so if the need arose.
The Brazil international has supposedly emerged as a target for some clubs in Saudi Arabia, but the Gunners will demand a hefty fee to sell him this summer, and an exit is not expected to materialise just yet.
Martinelli has been tipped to start in Wednesday's pre-season friendly with Villarreal at the Emirates, but Trossard could miss out with the muscle injury he sustained in last week's loss to Tottenham Hotspur.
