Crystal Palace have reportedly set their asking price for Eberechi Eze amid interest from Arsenal.
Despite signing Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon, Arsenal are still looking to add Eze to their ranks, but they reportedly want the Eagles to drop their asking price.
This has been a massive transfer window for the Gunners, where they have spent close to £200m on six signings.
Kepa Arrizabalaga, Cristhian Mosquera, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard and Noni Madueke have arrived at the Emirates Stadium, and Eze could join them if a deal can be struck.
According to a report from football.london, the creative playmaker has a £67.5m release clause which is valid before the start of the new season. The midfielder is 'very keen' to join the Gunners, while Mikel Arteta is apparently a big fan of the player.
Crystal Palace set their asking price for Eze
The report claims that Palace want in the region of £35m upfront in any deal, and the player's release clause expiration will not change their valuation.
According to the Guardian, the Eagles are determined not to allow him to leave for less than a fee that could reach up to £67.5m including bonuses.
Eze has still two years left on his contract at Selhurst Park, and while Arsenal officials have held talks with Palace over a deal for the playmaker, the Eagles are not willing to accept any offer below the 27-year-old's release clause.
Palace signed Eze from Queens Park Rangers in 2020 for a fee worth up to £19.5m, and the Championship side are believed to be due 15% of any profit the FA Cup holders make on the sale.
Leandro Trossard's potential exit could help fund Eze's move
Eze has been outstanding for Palace over the years and scored the crucial goal against Manchester City in the 2024-25 FA Cup final, helping the club win a major trophy.
With 40 goals and 28 assists from 167 appearances, his legacy at Selhurst Park will remain intact forever. A move to Arsenal would further help him grow as a player, but matters related to finances are really not in his hands.
Arsenal winger Leandro Trossard has been linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund, and amid additional interest from two Premier League clubs, his potential departure could pave the way for Eze's arrival.
