Glenn Hoddle: 'Arsenal should sign Morgan Schneiderlin'

Former England manager Glenn Hoddle feels that Arsenal should move to sign Morgan Schneiderlin from Southampton in the summer to strengthen their midfield.

Glenn Hoddle believes that Arsenal should raid Southampton once again this summer to sign midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin.

The 25-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Saints following his impressive performances for the club over the past two seasons.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in the Frenchman, but Hoddle has urged the Gunners to challenge their bitter rivals for his signature.

Former Saints boss Hoddle wrote in the Daily Mail: "My former club has been something of a breeding ground for Arsenal players in Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Calum Chambers. Now it's the midfield they need to improve and Morgan Schneiderlin would be a great addition.

"He's a good user of the ball, as well as someone who wants to snap at people and win it back. He enjoys intercepting and has the defensive mindset, something Arsenal midfielders often lack. I think he would be an improvement on what they have, even though Francis Coquelin has done well."

Arsenal play Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Premier League later today.
