Arsene Wenger says that Arsenal fans must continue to get behind the team in the final stretch of the season.

Arsene Wenger has said that he is pleased with the support he and his Arsenal team received from the travelling fans at The Hawthorns last Saturday.

The Frenchman has come in for criticism this season as the North Londoners' wait for a trophy creeps towards an eighth year.

His team were put under pressure by West Bromwich Albion as they were forced to defend a one-goal lead with 10 men following the sending-off of Per Mertesacker.

However, they managed to hang on for three points, which prompted a chorus of songs from the away end.

Wenger believes that the club need to be united in order to qualify for the Champions League.

"It's very difficult to be successful in football," Wenger told reporters. "When the players and the fans are united, you have a better chance to do it. And that pleases me the most [about last Saturday].

"In that final run-in, it is important that we are together and all focused on what we want to achieve."

Arsenal have won six of their last seven league games and take on Norwich City at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon.
