Arsene Wenger: 'Andre Santos had lost confidence'

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that Andre Santos left the Emirates Stadium because he was lacking belief in his ability.

Santos was allowed to leave Arsenal on loan to join Brazilian club Gremio and Wenger hopes that the left-sided player will play regularly back in South America.

Wenger told reporters: "He moved because he'd lost a bit of confidence and he needs to play.

"He's a guy who is a very good football player, but he didn't get enough games."

Santos had played eight Premier League matches for the Gunners this season.
