Aberdeen through to semi-finals

Adam Rooney's first-half strike was enough as Aberdeen booked their place in the semi-finals of the Scottish League Cup with a 1-0 win over Hamilton Academical this evening.

Rooney gave the home side the lead on 24 minutes when he headed home Niall McGinn's delivery from a free kick.

Peter Pawlett almost extended the advantage for his side immediately after the goal, but his effort was too close to Accies goalkeeper Michael McGovern.

Pawlett had another attempt after the restart before Darian MacKinnon's strike flew past the post for the visitors just before the hour mark.
