Wycombe Wanderers play host to Mansfield Town on Saturday afternoon still searching for their first win of the season in League One.
At a time when the home side sit in 22nd position in the table, Mansfield are 10th and are currently one of the form teams in the division.
Match preview
While Mike Dodds would have been hoping for a promotion charge with Wycombe, he is already facing the prospect of being sacked if there is not a change in fortunes.
In nine matches in all competitions, the Chairboys have only posted a 1-0 victory at Leyton Orient in the EFL Cup, a result that came on August 12.
Aside from edging out Bromley on penalties in the same competition, that is as good as it has got for Dodds and his players during 2025-26.
Just two points have been collected from six games in League One, although their four defeats to Bradford City, Stockport County, Exeter City and Stevenage have all been by one-goal margins.
Nevertheless, Dodds knows that a win needs to arrive as soon as possible, his side one point above bottom and already 10 points adrift of the playoffs.
Meanwhile, Mansfield have been one of the most impressive teams in League One in recent weeks having collected 10 points from their last four games.
Exeter City, Blackpool and Leyton Orient were all cast aside before they were held to a share of the spoils at Lincoln City last weekend.
Nigel Clough's side have only lost once in the last six encounters in all competitions, that being a 2-0 defeat at Everton in the EFL Cup.
A quick turnaround after their trip to Merseyside may have contributed to the draw with Lincoln City, but a full week's rest means that they will be rejuvenated for this contest as they bid to cement themselves in the top 10.

Team News
With Daniel Udoh having left for Salford, Wycombe will need to make a change in attack, with Cauley Woodrow potentially being handed his first start having joined on deadline day.
Sam Bell is another major addition from Bristol City and could replace Taylor Allen in the final third or Daniel Harvie at left wing-back.
Mansfield have a double selection blow with Jordan Bowery and Jamie McDonnell both away on international duty.
Baily Cargill should return at centre-back, but George Maris may have to drop into a deeper midfield role with Regan Hendry unlikely to deputise for McDonnell due to injury.
That could lead to the versatile Stephen McLaughlin being brought into the team. New signing Tyler Roberts should start on the substitutes' bench at best.
Wycombe Wanderers possible starting lineup:
Sas; Grimmer, Taylor, Hagelskjaer; Quitirna, Mullins, Leahy, Harvie; Westergaard, Bell; Woodrow
Mansfield Town possible starting lineup:
Roberts; Knoyle, Sweeney, Cargill, Blake-Tracy; McLaughlin, Maris, Lewis; Bolton, Evans, Dickov
We say: Wycombe Wanderers 1-1 Mansfield Town
With pressure growing on Dodds, this is not the kind of match that he will be relishing. However, we are backing one of last season's promotion contenders to raise their game and earn a share of the spoils, even if it extends Mansfield's unbeaten run to five fixtures.
