Wycombe vs. Lincoln - prediction, team news, lineups

Two of League One's mid-table teams will meet this Saturday as Lincoln City make the trip to Adams Park to play Wycombe Wanderers.

The hosts are undefeated in their previous four matches across all competitions, while the visitors come into the game with opposing form having lost their last four.

Match preview

Wycombe Wanderers have put together an impressive run of form as of late which has led to them progressing up the table into 16th position, putting a six-point gap between themselves and the relegation zone.

Four consecutive matches without a loss for Matt Bloomfield's team have showcased a great turnaround in form, with the latest of those leading to a victory in the Football League Trophy.

The Chairboys defeated West Ham United's Under-21s in that match, which came off the back of a 1-1 draw against Burton Albion in the league.

A victory this weekend has the potential to take Wycombe as high as 11th depending on other results, and it would guarantee that they go level on points with their opponents.

With the Chairboys undefeated in their previous three matches at Adams Park they have been attempting to make their home ground a fortress as they continue to try and push up the division.

The previous meeting between these two teams proved to be an entertaining one as they battled out a five-goal thriller which Wycombe ended up coming out on top of with a 3-2 win.

That is a result that Lincoln will certainly remember and want to get revenge for, particularly since they are dealing with a slump in form as of late.

The Imps have lost their previous four matches, and it is now seven games since they last recorded a victory, which is a concerning situation for Michael Skubala.

He is under mounting pressure to turn things around for Lincoln, particularly since he has only guided them to two wins since taking charge of the team back in November.

The Imps are currently trailing the playoff positions by 11 points, and should they want to make a late charge towards that then a change of form sooner rather than later will be required.

Team News

Richard Kone made a strong case for himself getting more minutes in a Wycombe shirt in midweek as he scored the winner in their Football League Trophy match.

However, it is likely to be the more experienced duo of Dale Taylor and Sam Vokes that lead the line this weekend for the Chairboys.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the pitch Max Stryjek should return in goal after being rested during the cup game.

The Imps have struggled for goals lately, having not scored more than once in a game since November which is why the club opted to strengthen that area of the pitch during the January transfer market.

Twenty-one-year-old striker Joe Taylor joined Lincoln in midweek from Premier League side Luton Town on loan until the end of the season, and he could be injected straight into the starting lineup.

Wycombe Wanderers possible starting lineup:

Stryjek; Grimmer, Keogh, Jacobsen; Sadlier, Breckin, Leahy, Boyes; McCleary; Vokes, Taylor

Lincoln City possible starting lineup:

Jensen; Eyoma, Jackson, Mitchell; Sorensen, Erhahon, Bishop, Burroughs; Vale, Taylor, Hamilton

We say: Wycombe Wanderers 2-0 Lincoln City

These two teams are in completely contrasting form heading into this weekend, and that is something that will likely play an impact in the fixture itself.

Wycombe Wanderers are flying at the moment, and the momentum that they are enjoying should see them through this match to earn another three points.
