League Two roundup: Portsmouth denied top spot

Sports Mole rounds up the evening's League Two action as Portsmouth are denied top spot thanks to a late Stevenage equaliser.

Portsmouth's hopes of taking top spot in League Two were dashed as they conceded a late goal to draw 1-1 with Stevenage at Fratton Park.

The home side took the lead thanks to Conor Chaplin's 77th-minute effort, but they were pegged back late on through Brett Williams's stoppage-time effort.

Oxford United went to within two points of leaders Plymouth Argyle with a 1-0 win this evening.

Liam Serecombe's effort just after the hour mark was enough for the home side, who moved up to third in the division with the victory.

The game of the evening was played out at Accrington Stanley as they slipped to a 4-3 reverse to AFC Wimbledon.

The home side raced into a two-goal lead through a double from Billy Kee before they were pegged back by goals from Dannie Bullman and Lyle Taylor, who both added goals once more after Sean McConville's effort on 36 minutes.

Luton Town and Leyton Orient played out a 1-1 draw at Kenilworth Road, with Jay Simpson striking for the visitors two minutes into the second period to cancel out Jack Mariott's opener.

Morecambe beat Crawley Town 3-1 to move inside the playoff places in the division.

Kevin Ellison and Shaun Miller gave the home side the advantage before Rhys Murphy halved the deficit late on, but their two-goal cushion was restored through Paul Mullin's stoppage-time effort.

Northampton Town got the better of Carlisle United in a five-goal affair at Sixfields.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored either side of Sam Hoskins's strike to give the home side the win, despite goals from Alex Gilliead and Charlie Wyke for Carlisle.

Hartlepool Town were held to a 1-1 draw with Barnet at Victoria Park, with Rhys Oates and John Akinde scoring for their respective sides.

Newport County remain bottom of the table, despite a 2-0 win over Wycombe Wanderers.

Scott Boden added a late goal to Marcus Bean's own goal, but Newport remain rooted with nine points from their opening 14 games.

Reggie Lamb scored in stoppage time to give the visiting Mansfield Town a 1-0 win over Yeovil Town at Huish Park.

York City and Dagenham & Redbridge ended in a 2-2 draw.

Ashley Hemmings scored just after the half-hour mark to cancel out Vadaine Oliver's opener before Michael Coulson levelled for York after veteran striker Jamie Cureton had struck.

Bristol Rovers and Notts County played out a goalless draw.
