Conference Premier roundup: Macclesfield Town edge past AFC Telford United

Sports Mole rounds up Tuesday evening's action in the Conference Premier as Macclesfield Town close the gap on leaders Bristol Rovers.

Macclesfield Town have closed the gap on Conference Premier leaders Bristol Rovers with a 1-0 win over struggling AFC Telford United.

An 18th-minute goal from Thierry Audel proved decisive as the Silkmen moved to within two points of Rovers, while Telford look increasingly likely to suffer relegation back to the Conference North.

Eastleigh have remained in the hunt for a playoff spot after second-half goals from Dan Walker, Jack Midson and Jai Reason earned their side a 3-1 win at Kidderminster Harriers.

However, Gateshead and Halifax Town both suffered a blow in their attempts to reach the top five after they were held to 1-1 draws by Welling United and Aldershot Town respectively.

Chester FC have moved into the top half of the standings after a goal from George Thompson secured a 1-0 win at Torquay United, while the game between Wrexham and Southport ended in a goalless draw.

Results in full: Aldershot Town 1-1 Halifax Town, Gateshead 1-1 Welling United, Kidderminster Harriers 1-3 Eastleigh, Macclesfield Town 1-0 AFC Telford United, Torquay United 0-1 Chester FC, Wrexham 0-0 Southport
