Wolves to rival PSG for Celta Vigo midfielder?

Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly entered the race to sign Celta Vigo midfielder Stanislav Lobotka this month.

The 24-year-old's eye-catching performances for the Spanish side over the last 18 months have led to links with a host of clubs across Europe, including French heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain, who are said to be considering him as a replacement for Adrien Rabiot.

According to Paris United, Wolves are the latest club to enter the fray as they seek reinforcements to help consolidate a place in the top half of the Premier League table.

The Slovakian has a release clause of £45m but it is believed that Celta would be prepared to sell for around £26m, a figure that would represent a new transfer record for Wolves should they seal a deal.

Watford and Bournemouth are also said to be in the running as they pursue their own ambitions for top-half finishes, although the Cherries have already invested heavily this month, spending a combined £31m on Dominic Solanke and Chris Mepham.

Lobotka, who joined Celta from Nordsjaelland in 2017, has three-and-a-half years remaining on his current deal with the Galician club.
