Wolverhampton Wanderers announce that they have sold winger Jeong Sang-bin to MLS side Minnesota United.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have announced that Jeong Sang-bin have signed for Minnesota United on a permanent deal.

In January 2022, the Premier League club revealed that they have brought in the young South Korean winger from Suwon Samsung Bluewings.

As expected, the then-19-year-old was loaned out to Grasshopper Zurich given his status as one for the future for the West Midlands outfit.

However, it soon became apparent that an eventual appearance for the Wolves first team was unlikely, with Jeong failing to make an impact in Switzerland.

In over a year in the top flight, Jeong was provided with just 323 minutes of football, not contributing a goal or assist across 13 outings.

Instead, Jeong found himself representing the Under-21s down in the fourth tier on a number of occasions, but his time in Zurich has now been brought to an end.

Subject to international clearance and FIFA clearance, Jeong will now move to the MLS with Minnesota United, Wolves acknowledging that they stand to make a "significant financial return".

Earlier this month, it was claimed by multiple outlets that Minnesota were paying Β£2m to sign Jeong, who has one senior cap for his country.

Minnesota head coach Adrian Heath told the club's official website: "When you call Sang Bin Jeong 'dynamic' you've hit the nail on the head. We first spotted him in 2019 playing for the Korean Under-17s National Team and we've tracking him ever since.

"Twenty years of age, incredibly athletic, incredibly quick and hard-working. He's really intelligent, has a great football brain and can provide explosiveness in attack – so when you go down the list, he really ticks all the boxes in the type of young and dynamic player we are after.

"We are delighted to bring in another quality young player, and at the age of just twenty, we know his best years are ahead of him. It's now up to us on the coaching staff to help him integrate into the group to become the finished article."

Jeong's contract will run until the end of the 2025 season, although there is an option for it to be extended by a further 12 months.
