Wolves transfer news: Jhon Arias reveals reasons for choosing Molineux over Cristiano Ronaldo

Incoming Wolves signing Arias reveals reasons for choosing Premier League over Ronaldo

Incoming Wolverhampton Wanderers signing Jhon Arias has revealed why he has chosen to leave Fluminense for Molineux.

Last week, Arias waved goodbye to the fans of the Brazilian giants after his final home appearance as it became clear that he was signing for the Premier League club.

The Colombia international is currently in Paris where he is awaiting to undergo a medical and look to gain a visa prior to finalising a transfer.

Over the past 24 hours, it has been alleged that Cristiano Ronaldo failed with an attempt to convince the 27-year-old to sign for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.

Nevertheless, Arias has opened up on why he has chosen to sign for Wolves, his comments coming before the Ronaldo revelations.

Arias speaks on Wolves move

Speaking with GE Globo, Arias has suggested that the presence of players such as Brazil internationals Andre and Joao Gomes helped convince him to move to the West Midlands.

He said: "It’s a project I believe in. They showed me the plans, and there are top players there – I don’t even need to mention André or João Gomes, who came from Flamengo.

"I believe in the squad and in the manager’s work. I know what they expect from me, and I’m ready to give 100%.”

Why else is Arias moving to Wolves?

Arias is seemingly eager to take his opportunity in the Premier League having spent his entire career in South America.

The presence of Colombia compatriot Yerson Mosquera can only have helped Wolves' efforts to convince him to join Vitor Pereira's squad.

As it stands, the general consensus is that Arias will act as a straight replacement for Matheus Cunha in one of Pereira's two number 10s.

While the £19m man could take on that responsibility, he will need to improve his overall output in 2025, where he has netted just five times in 35 appearances.

However, on a positive note, Arias has also provided 13 assists, and Pereira will hope that he can provide a constant supply line for Jorgen Strand Larsen.
