Wolverhampton Wanderers continue promotion pursuit with win over Swindon Town

Wolves continue promotion pursuit

Wolverhampton Wanderers have continued their promotion pursuit with a 4-1 away victory over Swindon Town in League One this evening.

The visitors took the lead in under 10 minutes when Kevin McDonald found Bakary Sako, leaving the striker to head home into the top corner from close range.

Alex Pritchard almost found an instant reply for Swindon, but he saw his effort tipped away from the bottom corner by Carl Ikeme.

Wolves doubled their advantage in the 19th minute, as Sako found Nouha Dicko inside the box for him to fire the ball across the deck and into the bottom corner.

Michael Smith wasted a good chance for Town to pull one back when he headed over, before Ikeme did well again to get down low and keep out Pritchard's long-range effort.

Sako grabbed a brace in the 34th minute, when he collected Jack Price's pass to convert into the centre of the net.

The hosts did manage to pull one goal back, however, when Smith steered a pass from Pritchard into the bottom corner in the 74th minute to make it 3-1.

Leon Clarke made it four just before the final whistle when he smashed the ball into the top corner from a difficult angle to put the gloss on an impressive performance from the visitors.
