Walter Zenga looking to bring "passion" to Wolverhampton Wanderers

New Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Walter Zenga says that he is looking for his players to play with "passion" in the Championship this season.

New Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Walter Zenga has said that he is "honoured" to have been given the opportunity to manage the Championship club.

Last week, the club's new owners replaced Kenny Jackett with the former Italy international and ahead of his first official day in the role, Zenga suggested that he wants his side to play with "passion" when the new Championship season gets underway on Saturday.

The 56-year-old told the club's official website: "I am so very proud and honoured to be here. I am so emotional about it, because it is a huge club and a historic club.

"If you have a passion for football you know about the history of this club – it is a famous club. There are changes with the new owners – it is a new era.

"I wish to do everything in the right way. We know we have hard work in front of us, but I am sure with the passion of the fans here, and their support, together we can achieve something important. What I can promise is that I will give everything, and all the passion and knowledge that I have I can pass to the players."

Wolves also announced on Monday that Benfica midfielder Joao Teixeira was on the brink of joining the club on a season-long loan deal.
