Moxey: 'Manager made U-turn over Wolves job'

Wolverhampton Wanderers chief executive Jez Moxey has revealed that an unnamed manager accepted the club's managerial offer, only to have a change of heart hours later.

The Premier League club eventually ended their recruitment process last week by appointing Terry Connor to the helm.

However, Moxey has disclosed that another coach, believed to be Alan Curbishley, was provided with the opportunity first.

"We have taken an absolute battering and our personal and professional reputations have suffered because the national media thought we followed the wrong protocol," Moxey told a Wolves Fans' Parliament meeting.

"[Before Connor], we offered it to one person only. He said yes, then slept on it, changed his mind and said no, we then carried on with the process."

Connor was assistant to Mick McCarthy, who was sacked earlier this month.
