Steve Morgan does not believe that he made a brave decision in appointing Stale Solbakken as the new manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The owner of Wolverhampton Wanderers Steve Morgan does not believe that he has made a brave appointment in hiring Stale Solbakken as the club's new manager.

The 44-year-old Norwegian's experience of English football has been limited to just six appearances for Wimbledon some 14 years ago.

He has since guided Copenhagen to five Danish league titles, before being sacked by German club Cologne last season following a poor run of results.

However, Morgan is adamant that Solbakken will be "an excellent fit" for the Molineux-based outfit.

"It is only brave in the sense Stale is not known in the United Kingdom. He is legendary in Scandinavia," he told reporters.

"I don't think it is a brave appointment. He is a proven manager, has won countless silverware and his record is outstanding. He will be an excellent fit for the club. We needed to bring in someone fresh and someone with a new approach.

"Any appointment in life, let along football, is a gamble, but he is a veteran of the Champions League and is a true professional."

Solbakken will begin his duties at the beginning of July.
