Wigan Athletic chase Rod Fanni

Wigan Athletic are reportedly planning a bid for Marseille defender Rod Fanni.

The 30-year-old, who can operate at right-back or centre-half, has one year remaining on his current contract.

Lille and Sevilla are also believed to be interested in the player after sending scouts to watch him last season.

However, Wigan intend to steal a march on their rivals by making an official offer for the former France international, according to The Sun.

Fanni made 29 Ligue 1 appearances last season, scoring once.
