Wigan Athletic defender Emmerson Boyce admits that he and his teammates know that only wins from now on will keep them in the Premier League.

Wigan Athletic defender Emmerson Boyce has admitted he and his teammates know only wins from now on will keep them in the Premier League.

The Latics succumbed to a 2-0 defeat to West Ham United on Saturday as goals from Matt Jarvis and Kevin Nolan were enough to secure the victory for the Hammers.

Boyce told the club's official website: "We know exactly what's at stake and we know that only winning will do now."

"It was disappointing because we went to Upton Park determined to get a result but we didn't perform as well as we know we can.

"It was an important day for us in the league and we didn't feel like we got going, we knew the physical threat of West Ham and we just didn't cope with it."

Wigan are now three points adrift of safety in the Premier League with just five games to play this season.
