Preview: Charlton vs. Wigan Athletic

Sports Mole previews Sunday's Championship encounter between Wigan and Charlton at The Valley.

Wigan Athletic will look to transfer their European form to domestic duties this Sunday when they travel to The Valley to face Charlton Athletic.

The Latics maintained their unbeaten record in continental football with an impressive 1-1 draw against Rubin Kazan on Thursday, but Owen Coyle's side have struggled in the Championship so far this season.

Wigan currently sit 13th in the table and have been particularly poor away from home recently having lost six and drawn one of their last seven matches on their travels. They have also not scored a goal away from home in any competition since their opening-day win over Barnsley.

Coyle will be without long-term absentee Shaun Maloney for the match, but he is expected to recall James McArthur, Callum McManaman and James Perch to the starting lineup, while James McClean is also available after a successful appeal against his red card in the defeat to Blackpool last weekend.

Charlton have no fresh injury concerns for the match as they look to build upon their 1-0 win over Blackburn in their last outing.

Johnnie Jackson and Yann Kermorgant both returned from injuries as subs in that match, but manager Chris Powell could opt to name an unchanged side.
