Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan urges Blackburn Rovers' owners to seek advice on how to run a football club.

Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan thinks that Blackburn Rovers' owners need to be advised about how to run a football club.

Rovers had their relegation confirmed on Monday evening following a 1-0 home defeat to Whelan's Latics.

The 75-year-old, who spent four years at Ewood Park as a player between 1956 and 1960, is dismayed at the way his former employer is being run.

He said: "I absolutely can understand the way the fans are feeling. When a foreign buyer comes in and starts doing things, it's not quite right.

"I don't think the Indian owners absolutely understand the game. They've made decisions which are wrong. I think they should stand back a little, take some advice, get back to basics and play football again.

"They need to listen to advice from people who know so they can put Rovers back where they belong."

Alan Shearer has branded the club's owners as "awful".
