Emmerson Boyce: 'Wigan Athletic won't give up FA cup defence easily'

Emmerson Boyce says that Wigan Athletic do not intend to give up the FA Cup trophy without a fight.

Emmerson Boyce has stated that Wigan Athletic do not intend to give up the FA Cup trophy without a fight.

The cup holders beat Premier League side Cardiff City to advance to the quarter-final stage of the competition, turning in an impressive performance to record a 3-1 victory.

"It was a great team performance against Cardiff," Boyce told talkSPORT.

"We're a good team, the manager has come in and has organised us and we think we can be a match for anyone. At the end of the day, we're the cup holders and we don't want to give up our title too easily.

"We look forward to the draw for the next round now and wherever it is we will go into the game excited that we can get to Wembley again. It'll be a tough task but we're confident we can do it."

Wigan turn their attention back to the Championship on Tuesday night when they host Barnsley at the DW Stadium.
