West Ham players to see wages halved if relegated?

West Ham United players will reportedly see their wages halved if they are relegated from the Premier League this season.

The Hammers are currently 18th in the table, a point adrift of safety, with 13 league matches to play.

According to the Daily Mail, the majority of Hammers players have pay cuts written into their contracts and the club fear a mass exodus if they are relegated this season.

A significant number of players are said to face 50% reductions in pay in the instance of West Ham going down.

The report adds that the club could also be plunged into significant financial trouble if they cannot save their Premier League status this season.

David Moyes's side squandered a two-goal lead twice against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, with a late Glenn Murray equaliser earning the Seagulls a point.
