Manuel Pellegrini names West Ham United coaching staff

New West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini unveils his backroom coaching staff at the London Stadium ahead of the 2018-19 Premier League campaign.

New West Ham United manager Manuel Pellegrini has named his backroom coaching staff at the London Stadium ahead of the 2018-19 Premier League campaign.

The Chilean will be assisted by his long-time assistant Ruben Cousillas and coach Enzo Maresca.

Cousillas, 61, has worked alongside Pellegrini at every club he has managed since San Lorenzo in 2001, including their time at Manchester City and Real Madrid.

Former Liverpool and Madrid goalkeeping coach Xavi Valero will also join the team at West Ham alongside fitness coaches Jose Cabello and Felix Cao.

"My backroom staff are hugely important to me, as they have been throughout my managerial career," Pellegrini told the club website. "I know they will play a pivotal role in helping the team prepare and perform to the best possible level.

"As a group, and as individuals, they bring with them a lot of experience and know-how as well as a great understanding of how we want to do things. These are all important factors in putting a successful team on the pitch, which is what we are all striving for.

"I'm delighted we are going to be working together again as we enter an exciting time at West Ham."

The Hammers get their Premier League season underway on August 11 with a trip to Liverpool.
