James Collins 'bitterly disappointed' by defeat at Everton

James Collins admits that he and his West Ham teammates remain 'bitterly disappointed' following their defeat to Everton.

West Ham United defender James Collins has admitted that he and his teammates are still 'bitterly disappointed' by last weekend's defeat to Everton.

The Hammers had their five-game unbeaten run in the Premier League halted at Goodison Park as they suffered a 2-1 loss to the Merseysiders.

However, Collins insists that the squad is still full of confidence ahead of this Saturday's clash with Newcastle United at Upton Park.

"There's still bitter disappointment about Everton," he told the club's official website. "We didn't perform like we can do - there were a lot of injuries which we shouldn't use as an excuse but we weren't too happy with the way we performed.

"We do think we could have got something out of the game though. I had a chance at 2-1 which maybe I should have stuck away but we're still full of confidence."

West Ham are currently in sixth place in the Premier League table.
