West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce: "We can't feel sorry for ourselves"

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce insists that the team cannot 'feel sorry for themselves' after dropping out of contention for a European spot.

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has urged his side to get over the fact that they have dropped out of European contention.

The Hammers were in and around the Champions League spots following an impressive start to the season, but after just one win in 12 games, the club have dropped to 10th in the Premier League table.

"We can't feel sorry for ourselves as every team has injuries at some time in the season and it's about overcoming that," Allardyce said in this morning's press conference.

"We've had a challenging run of fixtures and we should have taken more points that we did, which would have put us in a fantastic position. The bottom line is playing fantastic is great, but not winning is critical."

This weekend, West Ham will take on Sunderland, who are now under the guidance of new manager Dick Advocaat.
