Sam Allardyce slams Carlton Cole red card

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce hits out at the referee's decision to send Carlton Cole off in his side's 2-1 loss to Everton this afternoon.

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has slammed the referee's decision to send off Carlton Cole in his side's 2-1 loss to Everton this afternoon.

Cole put the Hammers ahead before being given his marching orders midway through the second half for a dangerous tackle on Leighton Baines.

Everton also had a man sent off late on, but Allardyce believes that Cole's red had a bigger effect, and signalled his intention to appeal it.

"It's not right. It's had a massive effect and we lose Carlton Cole but we will appeal immediately and hopefully they will see the sense and knock it down to a yellow," said Allardyce.

"I don't mind losing but not on a refereeing decision."

The result leaves the Hammers 11th in the Premier League table, while Everton now sit fourth.
