Jonathan Calleri in squad for West Ham United's Europa League tie against Astra Giurgiu

Argentine striker Jonathan Calleri has formally completed his move to West Ham United and is expected to take part in the club's Europa League qualifier on Thursday.

The 22-year-old, on the books of Uruguayan club Deportivo Maldonado, has completed the relevant paperwork in time to join the Hammers squad for their tie against Romania's Astra Giurgiu.

"I am very happy to have signed for West Ham," Calleri told the club website. "This represents a fantastic new challenge for me and I am really looking forward to it.

"The Premier League is the best league in the world and so I am delighted to have this opportunity to play in such a prestigious league.

"These are exciting times for me personally and I am motivated to adapt my game to this new environment. I am a player who always tries to work as hard as I can and to do my best for the team."

Calleri's previous clubs include Boca Juniors and Sao Paulo, and he was part of the Albiceleste squad beaten in the first round at the Rio Olympics this month.
