Giggs eyes further Wales improvement

Wales manager Ryan Giggs has warned his side that they will need to put in an even better performance than their 6-0 win over China if they are to beat Uruguay on Monday night.

Giggs's reign as boss got off to a perfect start as Gareth Bale's hat-trick inspired Wales to a convincing victory over their hosts in the semi-final of the China Cup, setting up a showdown with Uruguay.

However, the 44-year-old admits that his side will be in for a difficult challenge against a team containing the likes of Luis Suarez, Edinson Cavani and Diego Godin.

"Even though it was a good performance against China, we will need to play even better to win the China Cup," Giggs told reporters.

"That's what we're preparing for. It won't be easy because we're up against a tough, experienced South American team who are very good technically.

"But it's a great challenge for our players to come up against the best in the world."

Wales are bidding to win their first piece of silverware since lifting the now-defunct British Home Championship in 1937.
