Wales continued their recent good form to end their Euro 2012 qualifying campaign on a high by defeating Bulgaria in Sofia this evening.

Gareth Bale's goal on the stroke of half-time was enough for victory.

The Spurs winger cut inside from the right and his shot took a deflection off Ivan Ivanov before spinning into the net.

Neither side could qualify for next year's tournament as England have topped Group G with Montenegro in second.

Wales, who also overcame Switzerland at the weekend, finish above the Bulgarians in fourth place on nine points.
