Michael Laudrup puts Wilfried Bony on special training regime

Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup has Wilfried Bony on a special training programme to bring him up to speed with life in the Premier League, according to reports.

Swansea City boss Michael Laudrup has reportedly decided that Wilfried Bony needs extra training to find form in the Premier League, while admitting that the striker is a "special case" as he bids for full match sharpness.

Bony has scored seven goals in 16 games since completing a club-record move to the Liberty Stadium last summer, but just two of those strikes have come in the Premier League.

Laudrup believes that the Ivory Coast forward may be struggling to deal with extra pressure brought by his sizeable transfer fee, but insists that he deserves time to adapt after not getting the benefit of a full pre-season.

He told the Daily Mail: "We're talking with him. He's a little special case for a lot of reasons.

"We all know when you have a huge price tag on your shoulders there's always a lot more pressure and expectation on you.

"He didn't have a proper pre-season and then after we signed him he had to stay away for nine days for the work permit."

The 24-year-old has been left out of Swansea's starting XI for their last two Premier League games, including Sunday's 1-0 defeat to Welsh rivals Cardiff City.
