James Beattie: 'Garry Monk can be best manager in England'

New Swansea City coach James Beattie says that Garry Monk can be "one of the top managers in the country".

New Swansea City coach James Beattie has said that Garry Monk can be "one of the top managers in the country".

Swansea finished ninth in the Premier League last season, and Beattie believes that Monk was integral to the team's success.

"It's great to see him doing so well. He always had a very academic eye for football as well as being a very good player. I think he'll go on to be one of the top managers in the country. To be part of his team now by his invitation, I'm very honoured," Beattie told Sky Sports News.

"He's very much the modern day manager, he's very personable. His attention to detail and the way he wants to play is very structured in his mind.

"He deals with the players one on one and he's created a very good environment at Swansea. The sky is the limit for him if he continues to work the way he has been."

Beattie, who managed Accrington Stanley from 2012 to 2014, became Swansea coach on Tuesday.
