Danny Graham "committed" to Sunderland cause

Sunderland striker Danny Graham admits that he was elated to play a crucial role in his side's 2-1 victory over Southampton at the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland striker Danny Graham has revealed his delight at playing an integral part in the club's victory over Southampton to give them hope in their battle against relegation.

The 29-year-old has failed to score for the Black Cats in the two years that he has been at the club since his £5m move from Swansea City in 2013.

After spending time away from the club on loan, Graham has been recalled into the mix by Dick Advocaat and helped earn his team two penalties from which Jordi Gomez netted to fire them to a 2-1 win over the Saints.

He told the club's official website: "It was massive for me. It has been a tough couple of years here, I'm not going to lie about that, and I've been out on loan and in and out of the team.

"Hopefully today shows how committed I am to the cause and how committed I am to this football club. I only want what is best for everybody in the dressing room and everybody at the club."

Sunderland are one point adrift of safety in 18th place in the Premier League table.
