Vaughan: 'I'm happy to wait for first-team chance'

Sunderland midfielder David Vaughan has said that he is willing to bide his time and wait for a chance to get back into the team.

The former Blackpool player missed the start of the season following an operation for a stomach problem.

The 29-year-old returned earlier this month, making a substitute appearance against West Ham United and has played in the Black Cats' last four games, but all from the bench.

"I'm looking to play, but you've got to be realistic and wait for a chance," said the Wales international.

"I haven't said anything to the manager and I don't think I will either to be honest.

"I've just had to be patient and bide my time to get back in the team really. It's the manager's choice who plays and I've got to wait for my chance."

Vaughan joined Sunderland from Blackpool in 2011.
