O'Neill saw his side fall to a 4-2 home defeat at the hands of West Bromwich Albion this afternoon.

The result leaves Sunderland 16th in the Premier League table, just three points clear of the relegation zone.

O'Neill's resignation has yet to be officially confirmed by either party, but the reports suggest that the 60-year-old has continuing family issues that could affect his time at the club.

The former Leicester, Celtic and Aston Villa boss has been in charge at Sunderland since December of last year but has seen his side struggle with consistency during his time at the Stadium of Light.

Of his 45 matches in charge, O'Neill has won 16, drawn 15 and lost the remaining 14, making his current win percentage his lowest to date.
