Gus Poyet: 'We need our first win'

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet admits that he wants his side to register their first victory of the top-flight season sooner rather than later after three draws in four games.

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet has admitted that he is pleased with the way that his side has started the season, but feels that they need to pick up their first win sooner rather than later.

The Black Cats have drawn three of their four Premier League games so far in the campaign, with their one defeat coming at the hands of Queens Park Rangers.

Poyet's side twice came from behind to earn a point in their clash with Tottenham Hotspur at the Stadium of Light on Saturday, and the Uruguayan was delighted with the character that he saw from his team.

He told reporters: "The more we talk about the win that we don't get, the more difficult it's going to become. I can say we've only lost one game in five.

"I just think that it was a really, really good point for us and that's what we need to take.

"If we fight like that, concentrate and don't concede the kind of crazy goals we conceded, then we will have a chance to win other games."

Sunderland are 13th in the Premier League table after four games this season.
