Gus Poyet hails Chelsea "miracle"

Sunderland manager Gus Poyet says that his side's 2-1 victory against Chelsea was a miracle.

Sunderland manager Gus Poyet has described his side's victory against Chelsea as a miracle.

The Black Cats claimed a 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening to end Jose Mourinho's 77-game unbeaten home league run and boost their own hopes of survival.

After falling to a 5-1 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur in their last match, Poyet admitted that they faced a tough battle to stay up, but their upset against the Blues has reignited the belief at the club.

"I said we needed a miracle after we lost at Tottenham, and I was right," The Mirror quotes him as saying. "You don't think that was a miracle?

"If we want to have a chance to do something special – we'll call it a miracle – now we need to go on and believe we can do it."

Sunderland are currently bottom of the Premier League table, but are now within three points of moving out of the relegation zone.
