Sunderland goalkeeper Vito Mannone frustrated by lack of clean sheets

Sunderland goalkeeper Vito Mannone says that the lack of clean sheets at the club is driving him "crazy".

Sunderland goalkeeper Vito Mannone has admitted that the team's inability to keep a clean sheet this season is driving him "crazy".

The North-East outfit have managed to keep opponents out the door just three times this season, which is the joint-lowest in the Premier League, along with Norwich City.

Mannone has failed to keep a clean sheet in his last eight games since Boxing Day, and it is at the forefront of his mind.

"For me, I'm going crazy!" The Chronicle quotes Mannone as saying. "We're desperately trying to get one [a clean sheet], but we're finding it tough to get it.

"I'm making a few saves to keep us in the games, but it's the work of the whole team, from the strikers through to me. All 11 players have to be concentrated on not giving cheap goals away."

Sunderland are currently second from bottom in the table, one point from safety.
