Billy Jones delighted to join Sunderland

Billy Jones reveals his delight at having switched West Bromwich Albion for Sunderland over the summer.

New Sunderland defender Billy Jones has revealed that the fact that the club made it clear they wanted to sign him was a big part of the reason he decided to join.

Jones agreed to switch the Black Cats from West Bromwich Albion at the end of last season and he now cannot wait to start pre-season with his new side.

"By the time West Brom made an official offer, I had already spoken to Sunderland and I'd heard what the gaffer wanted from me and how he wanted the team to play, so I was leaning towards coming here," he told the Sunderland Echo.

"As a player, there's nothing better than feeling wanted and I definitely felt that from Sunderland and from the gaffer.

"So, even though I was settled at West Brom, once I had had talks with Sunderland my mind was virtually made up and now I can't wait to get started with the pre-season games."

Jones played 66 times in the league for West Brom during his time there.
