Dick Advocaat 'to stay on' at Sunderland

Dick Advocaat has reportedly decided that he wants to remain as Sunderland head coach.

The 67-year-old stated last week that he was not interested in taking charge on a full-time basis after keeping the Black Cats in the Premier League.

Advocaat succeeded Gus Poyet in March on a short-term deal that ran until the end of the season.

The Dutchman had said that he would call time on his 28-year career in management, despite numerous Sunderland players wanting him to remain at the Stadium of Light.

However, Advocaat has now agreed to stay on at Sunderland following a change of heart, according to The Sun.

It is thought that he has signed a one-year deal with the North-East side.

Advocaat guided Sunderland to a 16th-placed finish last season.
