Cattermole: 'Johnson can be England success'

Sunderland midfielder Lee Cattermole has backed his new teammate Adam Johnson to become an integral part of England's team on the road to the 2014 World Cup.

Johnson signed for Sunderland from Manchester City during the summer transfer window, and Cattermole believes that the 25-year-old is ready to further his career at both club and international level.

Cattermole told the Shields Gazette: "To come back to the North-East, he'll get a lot of attention around here. Sometimes that's hard to handle.

"But Johnno's a great lad and he's shown the desire to come because he wants to play.

"He's going to further his career, kick on and be a full England international all the time. I'm sure when the next World Cup comes along, he's going to be in it."

Sunderland captain Cattermole has made 68 appearances for the club.
