Wes Brown: 'We could have beaten Liverpool'

Sunderland defender Wes Brown reveals that he was frustrated with himself for missing a chance that could have earned his side all three points at Liverpool.

Sunderland defender Wes Brown has admitted that he was disappointed not to take all three points from his side's match with Liverpool on Saturday.

The Black Cats held the Reds to a goalless draw at Anfield, but the veteran centre-back was left to rue his missed chance at the end of the first half as he headed just over the bar from a corner.

"We knew it was going to be a tough test," Brown told the club's official website. "But I thought we started the game really well and created chances – including myself, which I really should have scored.

"You'd say a draw was a fair result, and I guess we're happy with the point, but we did have the chance to take more from the game and I'm disappointed not to have scored.

"We know Anfield is a difficult ground to come to and you'll always take a draw. But it's tough to take when you know you could have had more."

Sunderland are 14th in the Premier League following the point from their trip to Merseyside, which was their ninth draw of the season.
