Sebastian Larsson "desperate" for League Cup final place

Sunderland midfielder Sebastian Larsson reveals that he is "desperate" to start Sunday's League Cup final against Manchester City.

Sunderland midfielder Sebastian Larsson has admitted that he is "desperate" to play in Sunday's League Cup final against Manchester City.

The Swede had to settle for a place on the bench on Saturday as the Black Cats were thrashed 4-1 at Arsenal in the Premier League.

Larsson now hopes that he will be recalled to the side by manager Gus Poyet for the team's trip to Wembley this weekend.

"I would be lying if I said I did not care," he told the Evening Chronicle. "I am desperate to play. If I do not it will be a massive disappointment.

"In a sense, it is the biggest game of the season for us, even though we have to make sure we stay in the league."

Larsson won the competition back in 2011 when Birmingham City stunned Arsenal.
