Saturday's Championship predictions including Watford vs. Queens Park Rangers

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's Championship fixtures, including Watford vs. Queens Park Rangers.

Sunderland vs. Norwich (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Norwich City will look to clinch a third consecutive Championship victory when they travel to the Stadium of Light to face Sunderland on Saturday.

The hosts, meanwhile, have the chance to claim back-to-back wins after beating Stoke City 1-0 last weekend.

We say: Sunderland 1-1 Norwich City

Norwich have lost both of their away games this season, but we think that they will take a point from Saturday's contest when they face a Sunderland side who have drawn both of their home matches this term.

Blackburn vs. Stoke (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Fresh off the dismissal of manager Michael O'Neill, Stoke City will travel to Ewood Park on Saturday under the temporary charge of Dean Holden.

The Potters sit on just four points after five outings and without a win in three Championship games, while their hosts are looking to bounce back from consecutive defeats after enjoying a strong start.

We say: Blackburn Rovers 1-1 Stoke City

Although Blackburn have enjoyed a stronger start on the whole, they will be wounded from consecutive 3-0 league defeats while the Potters may experience a bounce after a change in manager, and we anticipate a share of the spoils as a result.

Blackpool vs. Bristol City (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Bristol City will look to claim a fourth consecutive victory in all competitions when they travel to Bloomfield Road to face Blackpool on Saturday.

The hosts, meanwhile, have claimed four points from their previous two Championship games, and they will attempt to clinch a third league win of the season at the weekend.

We say: Blackpool 1-2 Bristol City

Although Blackpool have taken four points from their last two games, we think that they will lose narrowly to a Bristol City side who are aiming to claim a fourth consecutive victory.

Cardiff vs. Preston (Saturday, 3.00pm)

In the sixth round of fixtures of the new Championship season, Cardiff City will entertain Preston North End in South Wales on Saturday.

The hosts suffered a defeat to Bristol City last weekend after a pleasing start to their campaign, while their visitors are yet to be beaten or even concede a goal in England's second tier.

We say: Cardiff City 0-1 Preston North End

Preston have been formidable defensively thus far and, taking on a Cardiff side left disappointed by a defeat last week, we would not be surprised to see Lowe's men grind out another clean sheet and see them having enough to scrape over the line, even given their struggles going forward.

Huddersfield vs. West Brom (Saturday, 3.00pm)

West Bromwich Albion manager Steve Bruce on August 14, 2022© Reuters

Huddersfield Town and West Bromwich Albion meet at the John Smith's Stadium with both clubs occupying places in the bottom half of the Championship standings.

The Terriers are down in 22nd spot, albeit with a game in hand, while the Baggies are only in 14th place despite ending their winless streak last time out.

We say: Huddersfield Town 1-2 West Bromwich Albion

Given Huddersfield's break without a fixture, this is a difficult match to call. The Terriers need a strong performance, particularly in front of their own fans, but we are backing West Brom to edge this contest by the odd goal in three to catapult themselves into the top half of the table.

Hull City vs. Coventry (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Hull City boss Shota Arveladze on August 13, 2022© Reuters

Hull City play host to Coventry City on Saturday afternoon looking to bounce back from suffering their first Championship defeat of the season last weekend.

Meanwhile, Coventry finally get to play their third league fixture of the season after a number of postponements due to the poor condition of their pitch.

We say: Hull City 3-1 Coventry City

With Hull having conceded five times last weekend, Coventry will feel that they are returning to action against the right opponents. Nevertheless, the Tigers appear to possess one of the stronger attacks at this level, leading us to back a home victory.

Middlesbrough vs. Swansea (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Middlesbrough boss Chris Wilder on August 10, 2022© Reuters

Middlesbrough will continue their search for a first win of the Championship season on Saturday, when they welcome Swansea City to the Riverside Stadium.

Chris Wilder's side sit with just three points from their first five league outings, with their visitors only two better off after a draw and a defeat last week.

We say: Middlesbrough 2-1 Swansea City

Middlesbrough will be lacking confidence given their tough start to the campaign, but, with home advantage against a vulnerable Swansea side, we back Chris Wilder's men to put their first three-point haul on the board at the weekend.

Millwall vs. Reading (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Millwall's Jake Cooper on August 2, 2022© Reuters

After taking one point from their last two matches, Millwall will be looking for a response when they play host to Reading on Saturday.

In contrast to their hosts, the Royals are aiming to clinch a third consecutive victory after beating Blackburn Rovers and Middlesbrough in their last two outings.

We say: Millwall 2-1 Reading

Although Reading have won their last two matches, we think that a Millwall side that have won their last five Championship games will edge out the Royals on Saturday.

Rotherham vs. Birmingham (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Rotherham United manager Paul Warne on February 13, 2022© Reuters

Rotherham United play host to Birmingham City on Saturday afternoon looking to extend their unbeaten record in the Championship to five matches.

While the Millers occupy 13th spot in the standings with a fixture in hand, Blues are down in 19th position after a three-game winless streak.

We say: Rotherham United 0-0 Birmingham City

Aside from Rotherham's goal glut against Reading, they have been equally as poor as Birmingham in the final third. With that in mind, we are going to predict a dour stalemate at the New York Stadium, a result which both teams would accept given their objectives for the season.

Watford vs. QPR (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Watford manager Rob Edwards on August 20, 2022© Reuters

Watford head into Saturday's fixture with Queens Park Rangers looking to extend their unbeaten record in the Championship to six matches.

At a time when the Hornets sit in second position in the standings, QPR are down in 17th spot after an indifferent start to the campaign.

We say: Watford 2-0 Queens Park Rangers

The inconsistency of QPR means that they could very well rise to the occasion and claim at least a share of the spoils at Vicarage Road. However, despite the transfer activity at Watford right now, we are still backing them to collect maximum points.

Wigan vs. Burnley (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Burnley boss Vincent Kompany on August 12, 2022© Reuters

Keen to make a return to winning ways in the Championship, Burnley will make the short trip to take on Wigan Athletic on Saturday.

The Clarets are without a victory in four league outings since the opening day, while their hosts find themselves unbeaten having played a game fewer.

We say: Wigan Athletic 1-1 Burnley

Burnley are yet to reach the heights they are capable of in the Championship this term, and their hosts will have plenty of confidence given their positive start to the season.

Ultimately, with Kompany yet to find a winning formula, we can envisage the Latics forcing a share of the spoils on home turf at the weekend.
