Tottenham Hotspur 'in talks with Napoli over Raul Albiol deal'

Tottenham Hotspur are in discussions with Serie A side Napoli over a possible deal for defender Raul Albiol, according to reports.

The Spanish international left Real Madrid to work with former Liverpool coach Rafael Benitez at the Italian club in 2013.

However, RAI Sport claims that talks between Spurs and the Azzurri have already begun with a view to a possible transfer in January.

It is thought that Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is looking to boost his defensive options as the future of Jan Vertonghen at White Hart Lane remains uncertain.

The Belgian international has been linked with a move to Manchester United in recent weeks.
