Tottenham Hotspur hijack Liverpool's Gylfi Sigurdsson deal?

Liverpool transfer target Gylfi Sigurdsson has reportedly opted for a last-minute move to Tottenham Hotspur, despite already agreeing a switch to Anfield.

The 22-year-old, who spent a year-long loan at Swansea City from Hoffenheim last season, was believed to be Brendan Rodgers's first summer signing since becoming the new manager of Liverpool.

Despite the midfielder holding talks with the Reds, it is understood that Spurs have swooped in to secure the playmaker, according to Goal.com.

Reports in Germany have claimed that the North London club, who are yet to appoint Harry Redknapp's successor, have agreed an £8m transfer for the player.

The news has sparked speculation that Tottenham's star midfielder Luka Modric could be on his way out of White Hart Lane.
