Redknapp cools Tevez interest

Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp has admitted that the chances of signing Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez are slim.

The North London side were linked with a swoop for the Argentina international, but Redknapp has insisted that a January move is not a "real possibility".

"He is a special player, the type of player who could make the difference, but I wouldn't think that's a real possibility," said Redknapp.

While a switch for the 27-year-old may be out of the question, the ex-Portsmouth manager is not ruling out approaches for other transfer targets.

"If someone came along who we felt was special, someone who could make the difference, I think we would go for him.

"The chairman would back me all the way if it was someone who we felt could take us that extra little bit forward."

Meanwhile, Spurs prepare to face Shamrock Rovers in their final Europa League group game this evening.
